I have now returned to my first love after an absence of thirty years. My passion for photography had to postponed while I raised a family and pursued a career in science and engineering. Now that my focus is back I've come to truely understand that in art as in science real beauty is in purity and simplicity. In my work the goal is not to produce just photographs but emotions. Be it in the quite splender of a country back road, the wonder of color in a simple beam of sunlight, or in the grandure of an ocean sunset these simple slices of living need to be appreciated and held on to.
I addition to capturing the image I prefer to do my own printind and strive to become a master printer. Someone once said that a photograph is like a symphony in that the image is the score and the print the performace. As such, as much thought and consideration has to go into the presentation as in the collection of the image.
Before my retirement, chasing my career afforded me the priviledge of living for extended periods in Europe and throughout the US. This has strengthened my understanding and appreciation for devirse cultures and georgraphy. Now that Stella (the muse that happens to be my wife) and I have time to travel we've been able to apply that knowledge to the images we collect. While taking three or four major trips each year we have covered much of the American West and parts of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Our projects are mostly collected during these journeys.
