Alfred Tse was born in Hong Kong. He studied in Ning Hoi Fine Art Institute in Hong Kong where he had a chance to study with Kei King Chung an excellent artist from Peking. In 1988 he immigrated to America, struggled for some time then he could squeeze his time to paint on week-ends. Since 2003 he switch to full time artist and concentrate in plein air painting.
He enjoy being in nature; work under the sun and in the fresh air. That. He is a very faithful to his subject. Frank Wolfelt commented that his painting is “True to the nature”. He likes California because it is a very nice place to paint. There is always nice sun and everything things is so colorful. He lives in east side of LA County in a place nicely situated between inland mountains and deserts and the beaches on the coast. Everything is accessible. He does some teaching but paint most of the time.
He is affiliated with San Gabriel Fine Art Association, Southern California Plein Air Painting Association, Laguna Plein Air Association and California Art Club. His cliché is “Be humble to learn and be diligent to work.”
