Rob Utz, born in DixonIllinois on July 12, 1936, began taking pictures as a young boy using his grandparent’s Kodak box camera.
Over the years his interest in photography increased.
Currently residing in Norco, California, since his retirement from 40 years as an elementary to college level teacher, he has been able to devote more time to his “visual music.”

Rob remembers:
“Several years ago I attended a teachers’ conference where Ray Bradbury was the featured speaker.I had been complaining to God and feeling sorry for myself about the fact that I cannot sing - even though I love music.Through Mr. Bradbury’s inspirational speech, it was as though the LORD spoke to me saying, ‘I have not given you a talent for music, but I have given you a gift for photography.Make this your visual music to me.’
“Some weeks later as I was showing a few of my photos to someone they unexpectedly exclaimed, ‘These pictures are just like music!’ - thus confirming the previous event and leading to my motto:
